Looking for a winter craft idea to keep the kids busy? Me too, so I recently gathered the boys up to make some peanut butter pinecone bird feeders to keep the birds around our home happy and healthy during the weeks to come.
Peanut butter pinecone bird feeders are super easy to make, and the kids always enjoy making them, looking for spots to hang them, and watching the birds enjoying eating from them every day.
You’ll need :
- Fallen pinecones with the scales open
- Natural peanut butter (preferably no sugar added)
- Birdseed
- Twine (for hanging)
- A baking tray and butter knife
Coat each pinecone with peanut butter, roll it in birdseed, pressing as much of the seed into the peanut butter as possible. Tie a piece of twine around each pinecone, weaving it under the scales, and securing it tightly to the pinecone. Tie the loose ends of the twine together to form a loop, and hang the pinecone securely from a tree branch.
And that’s it! I hope you’ll give this cheap and easy winter craft a try. The birds will certainly thank you for it!
Love and light,
Meagan
