Who’s ready for our first seasonal challenge? I know I am.
Now, if you’re anything like me, you probably have a lot going on in your life, and having a lot of time-consuming to-dos on your plate, especially when it comes to things you don’t have to do, only serves to overwhelm you more. Am I right? I know that’s true for me. With that said, I decided that a seasonal challenge, one that we have 3 months to get around to, is much more doable. Don’t you agree?
For our autumn challenge, I’d like for you to choose a tree in your local area and learn about or make something – a recipe, a piece of art or a craft, an herbal preparation, etc. – with one or more parts of the tree.
For example, you may harvest apples and make a dessert or some homemade apple cider vinegar with them. Suppose you have an oak tree near you. In that case, you may choose to harvest the acorns to make a black botanical dye, grind them into flour to use in your baking, or make candles out of the acorn caps, or you may choose to learn what type of oak it is, harvest some bark from a fallen branch, and then make an herbal preparation from it. If you have chestnut trees around you, you may choose to look up the nutritional information on chestnuts and start incorporating them into your diet. It’s totally up to you. The point is to push yourself to learn something new and then put it into practice this season.
Now It’s Your Turn
Let us know what tree you are working with this season. Once you make something with your tree, share it on your favorite social media site (if you have one) and leave a comment linking to it or share it over on the Facebook group. We will check it out and give you a follow at the same time! Good luck!
Love and light,
Meagan
