So it’s been a while since I’ve posted pictures of recently enjoyed things — at least here on the blog that is. I’m always sharing bits of day-to-day life over on Instagram!
Anyway, I have photos piling up in my phone that need to be moved to the cloud, organized, and then deleted from my phone. But before I do that, I want to share them with you here today.
All of these photos are from January 2021, and this is just a little glimpse at some of the things we’ve been up to during this slow, restful season here at the cottage.
We rang in the New Year with an array of snacks, watching The Princess Bride, followed by a few rounds of 5-Minute Dungeon, and then watching the ball drop in a desolate Times Square, New York.
We made some great progress with our fireplace house project this month. Dean finished all the rock, we purchased the walnut slabs we need for the shelves, and my antique brass L-brackets came in as well. I can’t wait to see this project completed. Fingers crossed in February!
I’ve also been reading a book my parents got me for my birthday called Home Sweet Maison, and it’s all about the art of the French home. I’ve been hitting the antique stores and really working hard to finish decorating some of the rooms in our home this past month as well. I have a new vlog coming out soon sharing some antique finds and my love for Old World style all about this very thing. Stay tuned!
Fur babies can be found all over our house, one lying here, another lying there. I love it so much. It’s making my ideal English Country Cottage dreams a reality. Clipsie kitty finds the funniest places to nap. She’s claimed this basket as her bed!
Dean and I recently took a trip to Biltmore Estate for a quick day date, and it didn’t fail to please. While we didn’t get to eat at our favorite restaurants, we did get to enjoy some wine, cheese, and crackers, and we got to go on our first evening Candlelight Christmas Tour which you can see in one of my recent YouTube vlogs right here.
The weather has been lovely this January. Yes! You read that correctly. I enjoy winter and the dead landscape all around. It gives me hope of all the green that spring will eventually bring. We’ve had snowy days, and we’ve had warm days — both of which we’ve tried to make the most of.
Speaking of warm days, we’ve gone on a few winter walks after lunch this past month. We have a large field down the rode we live on, and it’s one of those places we can quickly walk to and the boys and Charlie can run and play before heading back inside for the second half of the day.
This guy. He really loved his yogurt and granola on the morning I took this photo. He was covered in it from head to toe, so I just had to include it in this post. LOL!
Alright, friends! It’s almost 8 pm, and that means it’s time to start wrapping up for the day, getting the boys off to bed soon, and prepping for bed myself too. Dean and I are halfway through season one of Cobra Kai, and we’re really enjoying it so far. Hope y’all have had a lovely January, and I’ll talk to you soon.
Love and light,
Meagan
