“Skin Quencher” After Sun Skin Cream

Nothing is better for your skin after a long day in the sun than this “skin quencher” after sun cream! It contains nourishing oils, hydrating aloe, tightening and toning witch hazel, and soothing essential oils to cool the skin, and is a great way to hydrate, nourish, and soothe thirsty skin right away.

The essential oil combo is intended for children 6 and older. If you need to use this on a younger child, reduce the eucalyptus to 3 drops and the peppermint to 1 drop. Keep lavender and chamomile essential oils the same.

This recipe will make right around 4 ounces of cream.

“Skin Quencher” After Sun Skin Cream

Ingredients:

  • 21 g rosehip seed oil
  • 21 g sweet almond oil
  • 10 g tamanu oil
  • 10 g pumpkin seed oil
  • 6 g beeswax
  • 3 g vegetable glycerin
  • 2 g raw honey
  • 1 g vitamin e oil
  • 30 g aloe juice
  • 20 g witch hazel
  • 15 drops eucalyptus (Eucalyptus radiate) essential oil
  • 10 drops peppermint (Mentha x piperita) essential oil
  • 10 drops lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) essential oil
  • 5 drops chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) essential oil

Directions::

  1. Measure out wax and combine in “oils” saucepan. Melt over low heat.
  2. Measure out liquid oils, glycerin, and honey. Combine in a glass bowl. Set aside.
  3. Measure out aloe and witch hazel. Combine in your “waters” saucepan, and heat over low heat.
  4. Once the wax is melted, turn the heat off to both pans. Add liquid oils to the “oils” pan and mix thoroughly.
  5. Transfer “oils” into one glass measuring cup and “waters” into another glass measuring cup. Allow oils to cool until it resembles a soft, thick salve.
  6. To make the cream, insert an immersion blender into the soft salve and blend on low speed as you slowly pour in warm waters. You’ll immediately notice salve will start to thicken and turn a creamy white. Continue to blend on low speed until all waters have been incorporated, and then blend 5-10 minutes more to ensure oils and waters emulsify properly.
  7. Add essential oils and vitamin E last and blend again. Bottle, label, and store correctly.
  8. Gently apply to sunburned skin as often as needed.

Alright, friends! If you make this recipe, I’d love to know what you think of it, and here’s to a happy, sun-safe summer!

Love and light,
Meagan
